Healthcare from a Natural Perspective

Here at Harding’s Pharmacy, we embrace a holistic approach to healthcare. Having a Naturopath on site allows an extra dimension of health condition management to be explored, integrating evidence-based complementary treatment options with conventional western medicines.

The availability of both services, together with our ready range of practitioner-only vitamins, now gives our customers more choice than ever before.

The Naturopathic Approach to Health and Disease

Naturopathy is based on the principle that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. The naturopath’s role is to support and facilitate this inherent ability through the use of natural therapies and gentle therapeutic techniques. Where good health prevails, health can be optimised and where health has deteriorated, it can be restored.

Following naturopathic principles, each person is treated individually, and the ‘whole’ person is addressed. This includes physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental influences on their health. Naturopathy seeks to identify the causes of underlying illness and provides harm-free treatments. It is suitable for all life stages and can alleviate a wide range of conditions but not limited to the following:

  • Digestive disturbances such as IBS, reflux and gastric ulcers

  • Dietary planning and weight management

  • Endocrine dysfunction

  • Food allergies and intolerances

  • Fibromyalgia, pain and sleep management

  • Autoimmune disorders and chronic fatigue

Modern naturopathy blends traditional knowledge and skills with science and evidence-based medical practice, incorporating diagnostic and treatment methods which include functional pathology testing, nutritional and herbal medicine, and lifestyle advice to prevent and treat illness, restore balance and promote well-being.

Depending on the type of private health care you have, you may be covered for naturopathic and/or nutrition consultations. Please check with your health care provider for this information.

INITIAL CONSULTATION (1 hour – $80)

Jo will aim to establish your present state of health and well-being by conducting a thorough serach about your health history,  current health status,  diet and lifestyle habits. Information about your treatments through other health care professionals is important, so bring along copies of pathology tests, your X-rays, and your medical prescriptions if possible. This will then be followed by a general physical examination and specific naturopath assessments, as required (this may include further laboratory assessments that Jo can organise for you).

At the end of your initial visit, Jo will discuss with you, the appropriate treatment options available, and together you will formulate strategies to best address any health issues identified.
